Valerie- I’m not gonna lie. I don’t know whether to laugh, cry, be pissed as hell or happy as hell. We were recently told that Henriette (graphic artist extraordinaire) is moving back to Berlin. She’s ACTUALLY leaving us!
Choke- Get over it woman. You guys found an amazing replacement in Jessica Dhaliwal. You’re whining.
Valerie- Well let’s find out how Henriette feels about the new adventure she’s about to embark on shall we?
Valerie- What has been your favourite thing about The Letter Shop in the five years that you’ve been here?
Henriette- The wackiness. Oh, and the unbelievably highly functioning archiving on my computer. Definitely in contrast to the rest of the shop! How much and how little I saw change. Much in the sense of the expansions done. Rebranding, wide format, renovations, insane. Not so much change in the core group I’ve worked with. That was awesome.
Valerie- What are u going to miss?
Henriette- Everything. Everything. Even the most annoying things. Jessica said. ‘Really? He’s putting out invoices that long after a job is done?’ And the cupboard. The cupboard drives me nuts. Now that I’m training Jessica I’m glad I’m not going to be staying to watch her pull her hair out.
Valerie- So you’re saying that you’ll miss the dysfunction?
Henriette- Ya, pretty much. What I’ll miss the most are those high five moments when things work out and they really shouldn’t. Kinda like a bumblebee.
Valerie- What? The fact that it shouldn’t be able to fly but it does?
Henriette- Yes. It’s like The Letter Shop. It shouldn’t work but it does, and it does so, elegantly.
Valerie- Ok. Next obvious question. What won’t u miss?
Henriette- All of the above!! Plus the coffee.

Valerie- That is so awesome. What advice do you have for Jessica?
Henriette- Keep calm and carry on.
Choke- Nice. How diplomatic.
Henriette- And just love them back.
Valerie- Any parting words?
Henriette- Mmmmmm. I should have prepared for this. Can I bring in a cd tomorrow? 150 pages of parting words for The Letter Shop. I’m in denial right now. Oh, by the way, I’m taking Friday off. Jessica already freaked out. You guys could be the best friggin’ print shop in all of BC. I’m pretty sure I’m never ever ever gonna forget any of this
Valerie- You’re gonna try!
Henriette- Yes, I’m gonna try!
Valerie- Henriette you have been such a talent to work with and an all round amazing person. You have no idea how much we will all miss your expertise, your willingness to jump in and do whatever it takes, and for SURE your morning giggles! Our loss (and it’s a big one) is Berlin’s gain. I can only hope they realize what a gift you are and you are treated as such. We all love you.
